WILLIAM WESLEY DUNTON

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 19, at C.A. Hodson and Son Chapel for William Wesley Dunton, age 81, who died at Newberg Saturday, July 18. Intombment was at Lincoln Memorial park, Portland, Monday evening. Perry Macy officiated.

Mr. Dunton was born April 19, 1861, at New Philadelphia, Ohio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Dunton.

In his early childhood he moved with his family to Brooklyn, Iowa where he spent his boyhood and young manhood. It was here, on December 24, 1884 that he married Mary Louisa Patten, who survives him. To this union was born one daughter, Edna MacDonald, now of Portland. This long married life was spent at Brooklyn, Iowa, then Winterset, Iowa, and finally, beginning in November, 1918, at Springbrook, Ore., where they made their home until his death.

He spent some of his earlier years in agriculture, but during the 15 years before coming to Oregon, he was engaged in the hardware business, turning to farming again on coming to Oregon.

In early years at Brooklyn, Ia., he joined the Brethren church and was active in its work.

Besides the wife and daughter he is survived by two brothers, Willard B. and Frank P., and one sister, Minnie Brooks, all of Brooklyn, Iowa, one granddaughter, Carolyn Jean MacDonald of Portland.
