THOMAS E. SANGER
Thomas Everett Sanger, 56, of Oakland Acres died Thursday, Jan. 5, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Grinnell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Daniel I. Ogata, pastor of the Malcom Presbyterian Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner.
A private graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, with burial, in Hazelwood Cemetery.
The Thomas Sanger Memorial Fund has been established, and contributions may be sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell 50112.
The son of Everett and Mary Jantzen Sanger, he was born April 25, 1938, in Grinnell. He was a graduate of Grinnell High School and later attended Grinnell College and graduated from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.
He was married to Sandra Hoffert Nov. 25, 1960, in Newton. They lived in Newton for a short time, then moved to Grinnell. Mr. Sanger worked for General Telephone Co. in data processing. In 1971, they moved to Oakland Acres. Mr. Sanger joined the Mayatag Co. in 1990.
He was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, the Oakland Acres Golf Club and the Elks Lodge of Grinnell.
Surviving are his wife; two children, Sean of Indianapolis, Ind., and Nikki of Rochester Hills, Mich.; one brother, David of Salida, Colo.; and one sister, Myrtle Mardikes of Kansas City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
