PAUL JANTZEN
Paul Jantzen, 84, Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Grinnell, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, in Fort Worth of heart failure.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. at Overton Park United Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Burial of the cremains will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to his church.
He was born in Grinnell Jan. 8, 1911, and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1929. He attended the University of Iowa and served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He served for many years on the staff of Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Co., retiring in 1976 when he moved to Fort Worth.
He was married Dec. 19, 1944, to Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Donahue in Washington, D.C.
He was a former member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, a past exalted ruler of the Grinnell Elks Lodge, a member of the American Legion and other organizations. He was a member of the Overton Park United Methodist church.
He is survived by his wife Hazel Sarr Jantzen of Fort Worth; two daughters, Joan Wells and Janet Haggerty, both of Fort Worth, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; two sisters, Mary Sanger and Hattie Pedersen, and two brothers Tom and Ernie.
