VIOLET STEPHEN

Violet G. Stephen, 92, of Dubuque, formerly of Malcom, died Monday, Nov. 23, at Luther Manor in Dubuque.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Melinda Cree, pastor of the Malcom United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler, and pallbearers were Bill Burk; Jamie, Mike, Stephen and Todd Harris; and Don Kriegel.

Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.

The daughter of Virgil and Dolly Bolen Bard, she was born March 19, 1900, in Tama. She was a 1918 graduate of Malcom High School and attended business college in Marshalltown.

She was married to George Stephen April 5, 1919, in Montezuma. They farmed for over 50 years east of Malcom. Mrs. Stephen moved to Dubuque in 1987.

She is survived by a daughter, Maxine Harris of Dubuque, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Mildred Burk.
