MRS. WILLIAM BOLEN

Sylvia Lamb, daughter of Tobias K. and Rachel Lamb, was born Dec. 18, 1878, near What Cheer, Keokuk county, and passed away in a Grinnell hospital Friday, June 4, aged 69 years, 5 months and 16 days.

She was married on Feb. 22, 1897, to William Bolen, who preceded her in death Nov. 27, 1946. Four brothers and one foster son, Alfred Weaver Bolen, are also deceased. Since her marriage Mrs. Bolen has lived continuously on the farm 8 miles northwest of Brooklyn.

Her life was spent with her family. She was always happy when any of them came to enjoy the hospitality of her home. The past three months she was with youngest son Gerald and family in Montezuma. On May 23 she became ill with a heart attack and on May 28 she was taken to the hospital. She was given the best of care and treatment but passed away peacefully.

She is survived by four sons, Michael on the farm near Brooklyn, Verner of Grinnell, Ephraim of Des Moines and Gerald of Montezuma, one daughter, Gladys See of Creston, 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild, three brothers, Bert, Ralph and Harry Lamb of Grinnell, four sisters, Mrs. H.A. Jantzen of Grinnell, Mrs. T.J. Mehlin of Waterloo, and Mrs. Herbert Harness and Mrs. F.E. Kensinger of Malcom, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held from the Bramer Funeral Home in Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon, June 6 in charge of Stephen J. Epler, pastor of the Madison Church of Christ. Pallbearers, all nephews, were Garland Lamb, Merle Lamb, Charles Mehlin, Leonard Lamb, Earl Lamb and Melvin Kensinger. Interment was in Sheridan cemetery beside her husband.
