GERALD S. LAROS, M.D.

Gerald Snyder Laros, M.D., 62, of 3327 Stoneybrook Dr., Durham, N.C., formerly of Grinnell, died Sunday, Sept. 20, at Duke Medical Center in Durham.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Memorials may be made to the ORES Fund or to Habitat for Humanity.

Born in Los Angeles, Calif., he was raised in Grinnell where he attended school. He graduated from Stanford University and Northwestern University School of Medicine.

Dr. Laros was a member and past president of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, a member and past president of the Association of Orthopedic Chairmen and past chairman of the Orthopedic Department of the University of Chicago and Texas Tech University.

At the time of his death, he was on the faculty of the Department of Surgery at Duke Medical Center. He was the director of Duke Rehabilitation Center.

Surviving are his wife; one son, David of Lubbock, Texas; two daughters Ann Laros, M.D., of Iowa City and Sarah Jo Laros of Chicago; and one sister, JoAnn Laros of Jacksonville, Fla.
