MRS. GERALD LAROS DIES SUDDENLY AT HOME TUESDAY

Mrs. Josephine Laros, 62, wife of Gerald S. Laros of Grinnell, died suddenly Tuesday morning at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday from the Smith Funeral Home with Dr. Ralph Beebe of the Congregational church officiating. Organist will be Frank B. Stratton. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.

Later, following cremation, her ashes will be buried in Hazelwood cemetery. Those desiring may contribute to the Community hospital building fund.

Mrs. Laros was the daughter of Louis and Mary Kesl Kutish and was born in Grinnell on Sept. 24th, 1898. She attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Grinnell high school in 1916. She was valedictorian of her class. She attended Grinnell College and graduated with the class of 1921 and while in college was elected a member of the Mortar Board and Phi Beta Kappa.

On June 28th, 1922, in Grinnell, she was united in marriage with Gerald S. Laros by the Rev. Edward W. Cross. To this union two children were born: Mrs. James J. (Joan) Jeffas, of Adelphia, Md., and Dr. Gerald Laros of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Mr. and Mrs. Laros resided in California for a few years after their marriage but returned to Grinnell to make their home and manage their business, the Laros News Stand. For many years she taught Latin and Spanish in the Grinnell school system.

Mrs. Laros was a member of the P.E.O. chapter JB; Pi Rho Lambda Club; and was active in the Camp Fire Girls. She was a member of the Congregational church and served her church in many ways.

Survivors include her husband and two children, nine grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Johnston of Dixon, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
