RALPH H. CREPS, 71

Ralph Harlan Creps, 71, Brooklyn, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinnell.

A funeral was Monday, Aug. 26, at First Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn. The Rev. Hans Cornelder officiated and the musician was Andrea Sherwood. Casket-bearers were Jeff Van Tomme, Ryan Van Tomme, Virgil Heishman, Gene Morgan, Don Heudepohl and Robert Willett. Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery with military honors by members of Francis Gallagher American Legion Post No. 294. A memorial fund has been established. Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn, was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Creps was born May 19, 1931, in Poweshiek County, the son of Ray Creps and Blanche (Regner) Creps. He received his education in Brooklyn, graduating from high school in 1949. He then farmed for two years.

He served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 3, 1951, until Nov. 2, 1954.

On May 29, 1955, he married Agnes Jean McNaul at First Presbyterian (Church) in Brooklyn.

He returned to farming and later worked for Ritter Plumbing & Heating, Grinnell. In later years Mr. Creps owned and operated Creps Plumbing & Heating. He retired in 2001.

He belonged to First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and session member. He also belonged to Francis Gallagher American Legion Post No. 294.

Surviving are his wife, Agnes; three daughters, Rhonda (& Randall) Moyer of Grinnell, and Nancy Van Tomme and Rita Milner, both of Brooklyn; two brothers, David Creps of Grinnell and Earl Creps of Malcom; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

His parents and a brother, Paul Paynter, preceded him in death.
