ELIZABETH CARLSEN

Elizabeth Carlsen, 93, a former Brooklyn resident, died Friday, July 25, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 28, at Nevenhoven Funeral Home in Brooklyn, with the Rev. William B. Daylong, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn officiating. Organist was Marilyn Kriegel. Casket bearers were Raymond Spriggs, Eugene Miller, John Kriegel, John McNaul, Harry McNaul and Myron Byers. Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery.

Elizabeth Mary McNaul Carlsen, daughter of John and Mary Jane Moore McNaul was born March 16, 1904, in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. She received her education in Ireland and came to the United States in 1923 to the James Moore residence south of Brooklyn. She was married Aug. 16, 1927 to Harold Stewart Carlsen. They farmed near Brooklyn for many years. Upon retirement they moved into Brooklyn and seven years ago became residents of Friendship Manor.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, singing in its choir and teaching Sunday School. She also was a member of HGL Club.

She is survived by one sister Agnes Spriggs of Grinnell, three brothers, William McNaul of County Down, Northern Ireland, Joseph McNaul of County Antrim, Northern Ireland, and Sam McNaul of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and four brothers.
