HAROLD CARLSEN

Harold S. Carlsen, 92, of Grinnell, a former resident of Brooklyn, died June 21 in Friendship Manor, Grinnell. Services for Mr. Carlsen were at 10:30 a.m. June 24 in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. Rev. Dorie Hanson, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiated.

The organist was Mrs. Marilyn Kriegel. Flower attendants were Mrs. Mae Kriegel and Mrs. Beth Meldrem. Casketbearers were Jerry Byers, John McNaul, John Kriegel, Harold McNaul, Gene Miller, and Raymond Spriggs. Interment was in Brookyn Cemetery, Brooklyn.

Harold Stewart Carlsen, son of Carl and Lizzie Wylie Carlsen, was born Feb. 20, 1902 on a farm south of Brooklyn. Harold was a life-long resident of Poweshiek County. He received his education in a rural school. In August of 1927, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth McNaul. They farmed near Brooklyn for many years and when they retired, they moved into Brooklyn. For the past three and one-half years they have resided in Friendship Manor, Grinnell.

Harold was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Brooklyn. Surviving are his wife, Lizzie, and one sister, Mrs. Verna Behounek of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, George and Leslie, and one sister, Hazel Byers.
