LESTER SCHNEEKLOTH ACTIVE IN COMMUNITY AFFAIRS FOR MALCOM

Lester John Schneekloth was born July 19, 1902 at Malcom, the son of John and Elizabeth Dostall Schneekloth, who were farmers in the Malcom area. Graduating from the Malcom high school in 1920, he became employed at the Malcom garage of which he was later to become the owner and to serve the Malcom area his entire life. He died at 61 years of age Dec. 12, while working on his job he suffered a fatal heart attack.

Lester was united in marriage Jan. 26, 1924, to Josephine Eisele and to this union five children were born, of which twin daughters died in infancy.

He served many years on the Malcom school board, as president of the board six years. He also served on the town council many years. He was a member of Lily Lodge, AF and AM of Malcom No. 254, Eastern Star - Holly Chapter, Odd Fellows Lodge of Malcom, Poweshiek Rebekah Lodge, Malcom Community Club and Malcom Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine of the home; three children, Sonny of Malcom, Jim of Cedar Rapids, and Lucy of Des Moines; two brothers, Walter of Marengo, William of Tipton; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Cabault, Des Moines and Mrs. Della Coburn, Grinnell; three grandsons and one granddaughter that have brought unlimited happiness to him.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Malcom Methodist church, conducted by Rev. James Robison. Mrs. Thelma Johnson, Belle Plaine, played the musical selections.

Interment was in Ivy Hill cemetery. Casket bearers were Ward Puls, Ernest Swanson, Fred Beck, Claire Royce, Harley Reimers and Darrell Maxwell. Honorary pall bearers were Harold Carpenter, A.L. Converse, Lawrence Kinnamon, Wilbur Schultz, Arthur Hansen and Ronald Baltisberger.

Mr. and Mrs. P.D. Varnum, Mr. and Mrs. Elver Strong and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Schilders cared for the flowers.
