JOSEPHINE F. SCHNEEKLOTH

Josephine F. Schneekloth, 79, of Malcom, Iowa, and the widow of Lester J. Schneekloth, died Thursday, April 26, 1984, at University Hospitals in Iowa City of a heart condition.

She was the daughter of Joseph and Frances Schultz Eisele and was born near Malcom on Jan. 5, 1905. She attended the rural school near the family farm and was a graduate of Malcom High School. On Jan. 26, 1924, she was married to Lester J. Schneekloth at her parents' farm home near Malcom. The couple made their home in Malcom where they operated the Schneekloth Garage and Oil Company for 43 years.

She was a member of the Malcom United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women of the Church. She was a 60-year member and Past Worthy Matron of Holly Chapter No. 477 of the Order of Eastern Star; Temple No. 68 of the Daughters of the Nile in Cedar Rapids; a 59-year member and Past Noble Grand of Rebekah Lodge No. 57; the Malcom Garden Club and the Malcom Study club; and in earlier days was active in the PTA and the 4-H clubs.

She is survived by her children; Lester E. (Sonny) Schneekloth of Malcom; James F. Schneekloth of Cedar Rapids; and Mrs. Lucy (George) Axmear of rural Malcom, and 8 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester J. in 1963; twin daughters who died in infancy; one grandson; and a brother and sister: Grover Eisele and Viola Lamb.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 1984 at the Malcom United Methodist Church with Rev. William G. Schlobohm, pastor of the Malcom United Methodist Church; and the Rev. John Maze of Grinnell, officiating. Organist was Linda Schneekloth.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Halsead, Lavern Kelm, Dale McCammant, Lyman McDowell, Dennis Maschmann, and Harold Provin. Honorary bearers were Ronald Baltisberger, Herchel Griffith, Floyd Heishman, Clair Hutchison, Lawrence Kinnamon, Walter Puls, Harvey Tindle and P.D. Varnum.

Flower bearers were Dorothy Clifton, Grace McKeag and Frances Schlesselman. Burial was in Ivy Hill Cemetery at Malcom.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Josephine Schneekloth Memorial Fund and left at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
