EDNA L. PROVIN, 97

Edna L. Provin, 97, of Brooklyn, died on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn.

A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, at the Guernsey United Methodist Church with Jim Davis, pastor of the church, officiating. Organist was Millie Purvis and vocalist was Sue Kluber. Casket bearers were Michael, Randy, Danny, Rodney, Tony, Jeremy and Scott Provin and Chris Erickson. Interment was in the Guernsey Cemetery. The Smith Funeral Home of Victor was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the Guernsey United Methodist Church.

Edna was born on June 27, 1909, in Guernsey to John and Mary Neitzel Mullen. On Oct. 31, 1928, she was married to Clyde E. Provin in Guernsey. The couple farmed in the Guernsey area and she worked as a postal clerk at the Guernsey Post Office. She retired from the Post Office in 1968 after 28 years of service.

Edna was a life-long member of the Guernsey United Methodist Church and the W.S.C.S. of the church. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing and making patchwork quilts. Her most favorite time was spent with her family during the holidays, reunions, Sunday dinners and making homemade sausage.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Louise Provin of Guernsey; her grandchildren, Michael (Mary) Provin of Searsboro, Randy (Debbie) Provin of Millersburg, Danny Provin of Guernsey, Rodney (Wanda) Provin of Chetek, Wisc., and Connie (Chris) Erickson of Lino Lakes, Minn.; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Harold and Donald Provin; her parents; one great-great-grandson, Mason Brown; three sisters, Elsie Byers, Esther Tholl and Marie Gwin; and six brothers, George, Eugene, John, Charles, Harlan and Clyde Mullen.
