SERVICES MAY 16 FOR CLYDE PROVIN, GUERNSEY

Funeral service was held for Clyde E. Provin from the Guernsey Methodist Church, Thursday, May 16, at 2 o'clock with the Rev. James Seeber officiating.

Two solos by Mrs. Keith Stahl, "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" with Mrs. Lois Norris, organist.

Flowers were cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Norden and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Waline.

Casket bearers were Cecil Phelps, Eugene Hall, Leeman McWilliams, Delmar Heishman, Howard Hicks, Fred Cochran with burial in the Guernsey cemetery.

Clyde E. Provin, son of Grant and Emma West Provin, was born on a farm near Malcom, Iowa, November 25, 1895. He received his education in the rural schools in Jackson and Lincoln townships.

He entered the United States Army on May 24, 1918, at Montezuma and served his country overseas and received his honorable discharge at Camp Dodge, Iowa, on June 7, 1919.

On October 31, 1928, he was united in marriage to Edna Mullen of Guernsey. To this union two sons were born. After their marriage, they farmed in the Guernsey community for several years, before moving to Guernsey.

Mr. Provin has had failing health the last two years. He has been in Veterans hospital in Iowa City and the Marengo Memorial hospital in Marengo at different times. He passed away late Monday night in the car on the way to the Marengo hospital at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 18 days. He has been a member of the Guernsey Methodist Church for many years.

He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Edna; two sons, Harold and Donald; one daughter-in-law, Louise; five grandchildren, Michael, Randy, Danny, Rodney an Connie; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Rauch of Victor and Mrs. Opal Morrison of Brooklyn; four brothers, Clarence and Walter of Victor, and Elwood and Roy of Guernsey; and 13 nieces and 11 nephews.
