FUNERAL SERVICES FOR JOHN HINEGARDNER, 99, HELD AT BROOKLYN

Funeral services for John Hinegardner, 99, Malcom, were held from Bramer Funeral Home at Brooklyn Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Donald Woogie officiating.

Mr. Hinegardner died Feb. 9th at a Grinnell hospital where he had been a patient.

In charge of flowers at the services were Mrs. Josie Schneekloth and Miss Lucy Schneekloth. Pallbearers were Earl Alexson, Dean Courtney, Lester Schneekloth, Ward Puls, Ralph Wenchel, and Scott Cummings.

Burial was in Ivy Hill cemetery at Malcom.

The son of Jacob and Lydia Hinegardner, he was born Sept. 25th, 1861, at Harpers Ferry, in the Shenandoah valley of West Virginia. He moved to Malcom with his father, mother, three brothers, and four sisters when he was 17 years old. All have preceded him death.

He made his living farming for the late Joseph Eisele and his son and the late Grover Eisele for 45 years. When he retired from farming, he made is home in Malcom with his son, Ray and a daughter, Mrs. George Decker.

Mr. Hinegardner was united in marriage with Matilda Shine at Malcom. To this union were born nine children, five of whom survive: Ray Hinegardner, Mrs. James Humes, and Mrs. Genevieve Decker, all of Malcom; Carl Hinegardner, Newton; and Harold Hinegardner, Grinnell.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Matilda, and four children, Mrs. Cecil Knutson, Mrs. Virginia Young, Garlan Hinegardner, and Clifford Hinegardner.
