J.C. PARROTT SERVICES SET

J.C. Parrott, 92, of the Mayflower Home died Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Mayflower Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Grinnell First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Wallace, pastor of the Newburg-Chester Parish, officiating. Organist will be Edward Bohstedt. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Memorials in Mr. Parrott's name may be made to the First Baptist Church or to the Grinnell Elks Lodge building fund.

He was the son of Frank and Hattie Mead Parrott and was born on June 6, 1894, near Corydon. He was married to Lora Blanche Threlkeld on June 28, 1914, at Corydon, and the couple lived in Corydon and Chariton before moving to Grinnell in 1920. Mr. Parrott owned and operated the Sanitary Barber Shop on Fourth Ave. He had worked as a barber for over 50 years, retiring in 1964.

He was a former trustee, deacon and Sunday School teacher at the Grinnell First Baptist Church; a trustee and past exalted ruler of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1266; and a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Grinnell Rotary Club.

Survivors include one son, James Gordon Parrott of Loveland, Colo.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Alvie Parrott of Dallas, Texas; and one sister, Fern Reed of Corydon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1985, two brothers and four sisters.
