DEATH SUMMONS H.B. SMITH, OF HARTWICK

(From The Brooklyn Chronicle)

Harvey Brunson Smith, son of Martin and Sever Smith, was born in Henry county, Ohio, Aug. 31, 1864, and passed away from this life at his home in Hartwick, Ia., March 14, 1935, age 70 years, six months and 13 days.

He came to Chelsea, Ia., with his parents at 16 years of age. He spent three years in Chelsea and the rest of his life in and near Hartwick.

Nov. 8, 1890, he was united in marriage to Miss Rosalie Decker. To this union were born six sons, one of whom, Marvin H., preceded him in death in 1910.

He became a member of the Church of Christ at 20 years of age, was a devoted student of his Bible and loved to tell it to others.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, five sons, Sealy S. and Homer O. of Brooklyn, Rolla W. of Deep River, Rayman T. and Royal D. of Hartwick; thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, E.E. Smith of Belle Plaine, J.B. Smith of Chelsea; and other friends and relatives.

At his request, no public funeral services were held, but cards of his own composition were handed to those who came to view his remains.

His five sons carried his body to rest in the Kent cemetery by the side of his departed son.
