BRUCE K. HODGSON

Bruce K. Hodgson, 80, of 304 East St., Grinnell, died of a stroke Monday, Feb. 14, at his home.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at the Smith Funeral Home, with Pastor Steven M. Cox of the First Baptist Church of Pittsfield, Ill., officiating. Organist was James Severe, and vocalist was Sherry Burnham. Pallbearers were Charles Burnham, Lyle Carpenter, Ronnie Greer, Lennie Lamb, Ralph McGregor and Keith Van Willigen. Burial was in Highland Memory Garden in Des Moines.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Hodgson's name may be made to the Grinnell Senior Citizens Center and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell 50112.

He was born Oct. 13, 1913, near Colfax. He attended rural school near Colfax and, later, near Malcom. Following his education he farmed near Malcom and later farmed near Bondurant.

In 1941 he moved to Des Moines and worked for Keating Plumbing and Heating Co. for 31 years. In 1972 he worked as a plumber for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 33 in Des Moines. He retired in 1978 and moved to Grinnell in 1990.

Surviving are his wife, Ida "June" Hodgson of Grinnell; three daughters, Arlene Lamb of Malcom, Viola Middlekauff of North English and Janice K. Van Wyk of Richardson, Texas; three sons, Kenneth and Bruce, both of Malcom, and Marlin of Bay Springs, Miss.; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth Carpenter and Blanche Zorn; and two brothers, Lee and Herbert "Billy" Hodgson.
