'TONY' HAMILTON RITES CONDUCTED

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, (Thursday, Oct. 2,) at the Smith Funeral Home for Vern "Tony" Hamilton, 81, of 202 West. St., who died Monday evening at a Grinnell nursing home following failing health the past few months.

The Rev. Ralph Beebe of the Mayflower Home officiated at the services. Mrs. Willard Heffner was organist and Bill Ahrens, Herb Carter, Keith W. Davis, V.D. Hotchkin, Art McDowell and Leonard Newton were pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers were Frank Bahrenfuse, Carl E. Child, Jack Norris and Raymond Norris. Flower bearers were Mrs. Ed Hughes and Mrs. Jayce Skidmore.

Burial was in Bethel Cemetery southwest of Grinnell.

The son of Frank Freeman and Leora Olive West Hamilton, Mr. Hamilton was born July 14, 1888 in Grinnell. He had made his home in Grinnell all of his life and had worked for several Grinnell firms including the Light Plant and the former Neely Coal Co. and most recently was the maintenance man at the Monroe Hotel.

On Feb. 17, 1954, he married Maria Millgate Lockhard at Grinnell.

Survivors include his wife and several cousins.

Mr. Hamilton was preceded in death by his parents.
