MRS. HAMILTON RITES PENDING

Mrs. Maria Fern Hamilton, 81, the widow of V.V. "Tony" Hamilton, died early Monday morning, (Dec. 23) at St. Francis Manor, where she had been a patient since 1972.

The daughter of George and Roxie Foster Millgate, she was born Jan. 16, 1893, in Rock Creek Township, Jasper County.

On Jan. 17, 1929, she was married to Chester Lockard, and Mr. and Mrs. Lockard farmed in Rock Creek Township until his death in 1939. She then moved to Grinnell and worked at the Monroe Hotel.

On Feb. 17, 1954, she was married to Verry Vern Hamilton and they made their home at 202 West St. She was a former member of the Bethel Ladies Aid.

She is survived by her brothers, Oliver and Vern Millgate, both of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her husbands and her brother, Dr. S.G. Millgate.

Services for Mrs. Hamilton are pending at the Smith Funeral Home, where friends may call for additional information.
