MRS. FERNE BRIGGS DIES SUDDENLY SUNDAY IN WAPELLO

Mrs. Ferne Briggs of Grinnell died suddenly Sunday while visiting relatives at Wapello.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home with Dr. G.S. Bruland of the Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

The daughter of Calvin Dick and Emma Royce Huff, she was born April 21, 1883, at Salem, Ind. On Dec. 17, 1907, she was united in marriage with Nelson J. Briggs who preceded her in death in 1938.

Surviving are three children: Nelson of Kellogg, Russell of Santa Clara, Calif., and Clifford of Milwaukee, Wis. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Briggs was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and eight brothers and sisters.

She had lived in the Grinnell area the last 36 years, coming here from Delavan, Ill. She was a member of the Methodist church, active in the W.S.C.S. of the church, and taught the Dorcas class at the church for several years. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
