BETTY BRIGGS BADGER

Betty Jean Briggs Badger, 71, of Kellogg died May 11, 2003, at her home.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, at Hazelwood Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Pauley, pastor of Kellogg United Methodist church, officiating. A coffee time and visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kellogg Historical Society.

The daughter of Nelson and Irene Hay Briggs, she was born March 1, 1932, near Kellogg and grew up in that area. During her high school years, she lived with her maternal grandparents, Clayton and Rose Hay in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1950. She attended Iowa State University in Ames for one year.

She had made her home in Kellogg and was employed for 34 years with the Maytag Company, retiring in May 1987. She was a member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church and the Kellogg Historical Society.

She is survived by one daughter Cynthia Tustin of Escondido, Calif.; one sister Julia Gall of Hinckley,Ohio, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Gregory Briggs and her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Hay and Nelson and Fern Briggs.
