MARTHA T. HOTCHKIN

Martha T. "Dolly" Hotchkin, 87, of Grinnell died Saturday, Sept. 15, at her home.

Graveside services were conducted Wednesday at Hazelwood Cemetery, with Carole Sampson as eulogist. Pallbearers were Janice and Debbie Tharp, Susan Vos; Diana Fenner; Patty Roland; Randy, Angela and Jim Hotchkin; and Jeff Hautekeete.

The Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was the daughter of Thomas S. and Dena Strand Eames and was born May 8, 1914, in LeGrand. She was raised in Gilman and was a 1931 graduate of Gilman High School. She later attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.

She was married to Gerald Michael Hotchkin Sept. 15, 1935, in Trenton, Mo. The couple lived in Grinnell.

Mrs. Hotchkin was employed by United Food Store, North Market and as a nurse aide at the former St. Francis Hospital, St. Francis Manor and Friendship Manor. She began working at DeLong Sportswear in 1965 and retired in 1980. She was a member of the Hawkeye Valley Agency on Aging for several years.

Surviving are her children, Maridean Tharp, James Hotchkin, Marty Meredith and Thomas Hotchkin, all of Grinnell; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers, Daryl and C.O. "Buss" Eames.
