GERALD M. HOTCHKIN

Gerald Michael Hotchkin, the son of James A. and Mary Duggan Hotchkin, was born March 14, 1911, at the family home near Searsboro, Iowa. When a very small boy, he moved to Grinnell, where he made his home for 41 years.

He was married to Martha Eames on September 15, 1935, at Trenton, Missouri. To this union were born four children, Maridean, James, Martha Ann, and Thomas.

During his entire life he was a mechanic and was faithful to his business and his home in Grinnell. He was taken ill very suddenly Monday evening and passed away at a Grinnell hospital early Tuesday morning, August 2, 1955, at 44 years of age.

He is survived by his wife and four children of the home here in Grinnell; also two brothers, Joseph and John both of Grinnell, Mrs.Lucille Ashing of Des Moines, and Dorothy (Stepp) of Kellogg, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Smith Funeral Home with Rev. C.E. Kingsley, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Burial was at Hazelwood cemetery.

At the final rites, music was by Mrs. Rhee Auman. Pallbearers were Dave Barnes, Howard Coulthard, Donald Herbert, Wayne Puls, Art Smith and Bernard Young.
