MRS. HENRY GRAFF

Mrs. Henry Graff died at her home a mile west and a half mile north of Sheridan center, Poweshiek county, Thursday morning at 9 o'clock, after a prolonged illness of nearly four years duration. She had been bedfast since last June. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock form St. John's German Lutheran church in Columbia township, many neighbors and friends being in attendance. The services were conducted by Rev. O.C. Biermann and the pall bearers were Henry Schmidt, John Hagge, Henry Ehlers, Herman Backen, John Backen and John Frahm. Interment was in Maple Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Graff, whose maiden name was Augusta Friedrichs, was born in Germany Feb. 5, 1875. She was married in Germany to Henry Graff on April 8, 1894, and immediately after their marriage they came to America. They located first in Sheridan township, later moving to Malcom, where they remained for about four years. Mr. Graff then bought a farm some ten miles southwest of Tama where the family has since resided.

Mrs. Graff is survived by her husband and ten children, all of whom make their home in this vicinity. She was a devoted member of the German Lutheran church, having become a member of that church in her early girlhood.

The surviving children are Mrs. Gus Timm, Mrs. Gus Wiese, Henry Graff, Mrs. Ernest Jochims, Nellie Graff, Rudolph, Albert, Herman, Marie, and Emma Graff. She is also survived by two brothers, Henry and Herman Friedrichs, of this vicinity; three brothers in Germany; one sister who resides in Germany and another, Mrs. Hans Sieck, who sailed ten days ago for a visit in the Fatherland and another sister, Mrs. Charles Hink; besides her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Friedrichs.--Tama Herald.
