MRS. EDWARD GORSUCH

Sarah A. Cowan was born in Pennsylvania February 20, 1830, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Wood, on March 30, 1912, aged 82 years and 1 month.

On the 14th of June, 1849, she was united in marriage to Edward Gorsuch. To this union were born 11 children, four of whom preceded her to the better world.

In 1851 she with her husband came West and settled near Browntown, where they lived for 20 years, and then moved to the neighborhood in which she died.

The children who survive are Mary Wood, of Blue Point, Matilda Winherst (Windhurst), of Williamsburg, Flora, of Stilicomb (Steilacoom), Washington, Emma Reed, of Mahaska county, George, who is at home, Nellie Cook, near Searsboro, and Della Bortell of Sheridan.

She united with the Methodist Episcopal church in early life, and took a deep interest in religious work. In discharging the duties and responsibilities of her daily life she sought the grace of Christ, and found it all-sufficient. When passing through the deep waters of bereavement and sorrow she leaned upon the everlasting arms and put her trust in Him who has said, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee." She passed away after a brief illness and her latter end was peace.

She leaves to mourn her loss six daughters, 1 son, 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and many friends to whom she is not lost, only gone before. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church, Blue Point, on Saturday, March 23, 1912, at 11 o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev. J.J. Pritchard, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining the church.
