RITES HELD FOR ELDON DEXTER

Eldon R. "Dutch" Dexter, 77 of 521 Sixth Ave., Grinnell, died Sunday, June 5, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma, with the Rev. Kenneth Wallace of the Newburg-Chester parish, United Church of Christ, officiating. Pallbearers were John Rupp, Don Hudnutt, Bradford Jones, Larry Brown, Warren Dexter and Steven Koger. Burial was in Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.

The son of Robert and Maude Wood Dexter, he was born Aug. 20, 1910, at Montezuma. He was a lifetime resident of the Grinnell area and attended Grinnell schools.

Mr. Dexter served with the 63rd Coast Artillery Battalion of the U.S. Army in 1942, serving until late 1945. He then farmed until 1962. Mr. Dexter had made his home in Grinnell since 1980. He was a volunteer at the Grinnell Senior Center.

Surviving is a brother, Glenn of Grinnell. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ralph.
