RUSSELL WINBURN
Russell V. Winburn, 92, of 1706 Tenth Ave. Pl., Grinnell, died Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Mayflower Health Care Center.
Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home. Private burial services will be at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Malcom.
Memorials in Mr. Winburn's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
The son of Sidney and Elizabeth Lewis Winburn, he was born April 14, 1901, in Irving, Ky. He moved to the Sheridan area northeast of Grinnell and attended rural school. Following his education he served with the U.S. Army and worked as a farm hand.
He was married to Mildred Lidtka Dec. 21, 1927, in Grinnell. They farmed near Malcom and Grinnell before moving to a farm near Ewart in 1944. They moved to Grinnell in 1960, and Mr. Winburn retired from farming in 1966.
He was a member of the Ewart Presbyterian Church, the Elks Lodge and the National Angus Association.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Russell of Malcom; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Keith; and 10 brothers and sisters.
