SUSIE WOOD, 82, SERVICES TODAY

Susie Wood, 82, of 1028 Broad St., died Thursday, June 24, at the Lone Elm Nursing Home following an extended illness.

The daughter of Sidney and Elizabeth Waters Winburn, she was born on Feb. 25, 1889, in Estill County, Ky., and she received her education in the schools of that community. In 1911, she came to Iowa and lived the remainder of her life in the Sheridan and Grinnell communities. She was a member of the Assembly of God church and the Grandmothers Club.

She was married to William W. Lynch on April 30, 1912. The couple had three children. Mr. Lynch preceded her in death on March 22, 1931. On Jan. 10, 1942, she was married to Earl Wood, who preceded her in death on July 16, 1950.

She is survived by two children, Mrs. Benita Brummett and James H. Lynch, both of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Clarence Winburn of Glenfield, Pa., and Russell Winburn of Grinnell; one sister, Mrs. Julia Weldon of Taylorsville, Ky.; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Ben W. Lynch.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wood were held at 1:30 p.m. today (Monday) at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sam Reaves officiating. Organist and vocalist was Mrs. Sam Reaves. Pallbearers included Louis Smith, Guy Cooper, Clayton Tiedeman, Eldon Gerard and John McIlrath.

Burial was in the Sheridan cemetery.
