RETHA LYNCH RITES SATURDAY
Retha Mae Lynch, 57, of Marshalltown, formerly of Grinnell, died Thursday, Feb. 11, at Marshalltown Area Community Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson of the Grinnell Christian Church officiating. Organist was Marlene Toney and pallbearers were Larry Cook, Gene Freeborn, Donald Lemke, Jack Marcum, Glenn Stewart and Tom Whitehead. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.
The daughter of Floyd and Lena Jones Beason, she was born June 6, 1924, on a farm in Sugar Creek Township. She attended Grinnell High School.
On Jan. 26, 1942, she was married to Ben Wesley Lynch in Lancaster, Mo. The couple had six children.
Following her husband's death in 1955, Mrs. Lynch lived in Des Moines. She formerly worked for the Greyhound Co. in restaurant facilites around the Midwest and later was associated with Banker's Life Insurance Co. in Des Moines as section leader in the mailing room. For the past few months she had lived in Marshalltown to be near her family.
Survivors include her mother, Lena Beason Newton of Grinnell; her children, Helen Cook of Des Moines, James Lynch of Marshalltown, Michael Lynch of Toledo, Patrick Lynch of Phoenix, Ariz., Alice Jane Wright of Phoenix and William K. Lynch of LeGrand; 16 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her sisters, Neta Stewart of Grinnell, Louise Whitehead of New Sharon and Maxine Armstrong of San Diego, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, her father, three grandchildren and a brother, Max Beason.
