RITES FRIDAY FOR GEORGE B. ADKINS

George B. Adkins, 68, of 930 State Street, died Wednesday morning at a Grinnell hospital.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the James-Schalinske Funeral Home with the Rev. Leland Mann, pastor of the First Congregational church, officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Kathleen Heffner.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cliff Wichman, C.W. Austin, Ross Mintle, Myron Heneke, Clair Wells, and L.D. Sidle. Interment will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

The son of George A. and Harriet Newland Adkins, he was born on June 7th, 1892, at New Sharon. He attended schools of that community and served with the United States Army during World War I.

On Jan. 19th, 1918, he was united in marriage with Mary McIlrath at the home of her parents in Laurel. In 1919 they move to their farm a few miles northeast of Grinnell and farmed there until their retirement three years ago. Since they have resided in Grinnell.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; a son, Delmar of Brooklyn; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Harriet) Wright of Kasson, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Miss Ora Adkins of New Sharon.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
