RUTH ADKINS RITES SATURDAY

Ruth Ellen Adkins, 68, of Grinnell died early Wednesday morning at Grinnell General Hospital.

Services for Miss Adkins will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with burial at Rock Creek Cemetery.

The daughter of Horace James and Alice (Alys) Lenore Tarvestad Adkins, she was born on Oct. 9, 1914, on the family farm west of Grinnell. She attended school near her home and graduated from Grinnell High School. She also received bachelor's and master's degrees in education form Drake University.

Miss Adkins had taught for 43 years in the school system here, retiring seven years ago. Her specialty was remedial reading.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia L. Christinson of Grinnell. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Alvin H. Adkins.

Miss Adkins was a member of the Victor Grange and the Grinnell-Newburg Education Association.
