AMES RITES HELD FOR RISSES

Funeral services were held Jan. 28 for Arthur R. and Theone M. Risse at the United Church of Christ-Congregational in Ames, with the Rev. Henry Campbell officiating. Burial was at Story Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Risse, 54, and Mrs. Risse, 56, both of Ames, died Jan. 13 in Boise, Idaho, after apparently being overcome by fumes from a gas heater in their van.

Mr. Risse was born June 26, 1927, at Grinnell, the son of Theodore Harry and Mary Althea Davidson Risse. He was married to Theone Maxine Badker at Clear Lake on Feb. 6, 1949. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

He was a member of Arcadia Lodge No. 249 and received his Master Mason degree in 1964. He was also a member of the York Rite Bodies, Judea White Shrine and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Des Moines.

Mr. Risse was active in Scouting and received numerous awards for that activity.

Mrs. Risse, the daughter of Roy Willis and Laura Warion Walker Badker, was born March 21, 1925, in Clear Lake. She served in the Army Nurses Corps from 1944 to 1947. She was a member of the Social Order of the Beaucant No. 233 and served as chaplain.

Mr. and Mrs. Risse lived in Grinnell until 1959 when they moved to Ames. While in Grinnell, Mrs. Risse was a registered nurse at the former Grinnell Community Hospital, and Mr. Risse was employed by the Poweshiek County maintenance department. They were also former members of the United Church of Christ-Congregational here. Mr. Risse owned Art's Auto Salvage in Ames.

Mr. Risse is survived by a son, John F. Risse, of Ames; a brother, Walter Risse of Medford, Ore.; a sister, Mable Adkins of Florence, Ore.; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Risse is survived by her son and two grandchildren; her mother, Laura Badker of Clear Lake; and a brother, Wayne Badker, also of Clear Lake.
