FANNIE H. HOOVER SERVICES HELD
Fannie H. Hoover, 84, died suddenly Friday evening at her home at 1115 West St.
The daughter of John G. and Minnie Mae Black Horsford, Mrs. Hoover was born on April 24, 1885 in the last log cabin located in Jasper County in the Bethel Community. She received her education in the rural schools of this community and also the Lynnville public schools. For a number of years she taught in the rural schools in the Bethel area.
She was married to Jesse H. Hoover on March 28, 1906 at Lynnville. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Bethel community until they moved to Grinnell 37 years ago.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge, Gold Star Mothers, American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliaries.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Gregory of Chariton, Ia., and Evelyn Eisenhauer of North Little Rock, Ark.; and eight grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hoover was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jesse on Dec. 9, 1952, a son John, who passed away while in the service for his country, and one sister.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hoover were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home.
The Rev. Myron Harris, pastor of the Northside Friends Church, officiated and the organist was Mrs. Leonard Pearce. Serving as pallbearers were Marvin Duckworth, Raymond Selle, George Graham, Earl Hansen and Vernon Graham and Olaf Young.
Interment was in the Hazelwood Cemetery.
