WAYNE E. CLEMENS

Wayne E. Clemens, 62, of Thornburg, died Saturday, Sept. 20 at Keokuk County Hospital, Sigourney. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. Paul (Irma) Urfer, Brooklyn.

He was born March 24, 1924 in Trenton, Mo., the son of Clarence A. and Rose Nell McCulley Clemens. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Marie Fern Rauch June 5, 1950, in Lynn Creek, Mo. In 1954 they moved to Humphreys, Mo., where he was a mechanic and farmer. They moved to Thornburg in 1958 where he has been employed since 1966 in the fertilizer business.

He was a member of United Methodist church in Spickard, Mo., and James Murphy American Legion Post 319 in Keswick.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Lynn (Terri) Smith of Council Bluffs; two sons, William Earl of Dayton, Ohio, and Michael W. of What Cheer; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Tate of Meeker, Colo., and a brother, Charles of Atlantic. He was preceded by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Funeral services were held Sept. 22, 1986 at the Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer with Rev. Ron L. Clayton officiating. Music was by Mrs. Jean Wilson and Mrs. Virginia Striegel. Casketbearers were Charles Striegel, Jim Striegel, Paul Striegel, Randy Duncan, Jerry Fox and Alan Axmear.

Burial was in Sixteen Cemetery, Thornburg, where military graveside services were by James-Murphy Post No.319 of Keswick.
