AFTON ALLEN SERVICES HELD

Afton R. Allen, 79, died Monday, July 18, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon, with J.T. Ross officiating. Burial was at the Friends Cemetery in New Sharon.

The son of James and Edith Thomas Allen, he was born Dec. 26, 1903, at Searsboro. He was married to Veda Gleason on Dec. 16, 1929, in Oskaloosa.

Mr. Allen is survived by two sons, Wilbur Allen of Grinnell and Max Allen of Montezuma; one daughter, Eunice Eversdyk of Abilene, Texas; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cletus Allen of New Sharon and Ceryl Allen of New Sharon; and two sisters, Mrs. Roy Johnston of Oskaloosa and Mrs. Ervin Walsh of Tucson, Ariz.
