RICHARD LEE CLEMENTI

Richard Lee Clementi, 41, of 804 Summer St., Grinnell, died Friday, March 29, at his home.

The cause of death was not known at week's end. An autopsy was being performed by the state medical examiner.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Bowman, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Pallbearers will be Glenn Baker; Doyle, Neal and Rick Burkett; Mike Hauersperger and Tom Smith. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

The son of Anthony and Mabel Farmer Clementi, he was born April 19, 1949, in Grinnell. He attended Grinnell schools and later received an associate degree in culinary arts from Des Moines Area Community College. He worked as a chef at the Newton Inn.

He was married to Phyllis Nelson in September 1976. The couple lived in Searsboro and Newton. They were divorced in 1983, and Mr. Clementi moved to San Diego, Calif., in 1984 before returning to Grinnell in 1986. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his parents; a son, Kris of Newton; a daughter, Jessica of Newton; one brother, James of Brooklyn; and a sister, Candace of Des Moines.
