Grinnell Herald (Grinnell, Iowa) Oct. 9, 1903

--Carsten Hink was born in Germany, Oct. 20, 1836. About thirty-five years ago he came to this country and two years after he located in Chester twp. where he lived until two years ago when he moved to Grinnell. He died at ten o'clock on Tuesday Oct. 7, at his residence in first ward. Funeral services were held this morning at 11 o'clock at the late home, conducted by Rev. J.F. Reinsch. The body was then taken to the German Lutheran Church north of Malcom where the final service was held after which the body was interred in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Hink was one of the many thrifty and successful men who have come to this country from Germany. Always careful, honorable, and energetic, he was one of Chester township's best citizens and was honored and respected by all who knew him.
