EDITH KOGER DIES AT 100

Edith Brown Koger, 100, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 14, at Friendship Manor.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael D. Smith, pastor of the Grinnell First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Organist was Barbara Lien. Pallbearers were Keith Koger, James E. Marshall, David L. Ringgenberg, Dick Wells, and Charles and Raymond Ziegenmeyer. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church and left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Maxwell and Matilda Paul McCosh, she was born on July 2, 1886, in Jasper County northwest of Grinnell. She was educated in the public schools.

On March 17, 1915, she was married to LeMoine Koger, and the couple farmed west and north of Grinnell before moving into Grinnell. Mrs. Koger later lived in Newton for 34 years, returning to Grinnell when she entered Friendship Manor in 1979.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church here since 1910.

Survivors include two sisters, Lois Carter and Esther Ziegenmeyer, both of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee in 1945 and six sisters, Jennie Koger, Margaret Marshall, Ruth Megaughin, Mary Wylie, Martha McCosh and Jessie Wells.
