JESSIE WELLS SERVICES HELD

Jessie Wells, 94, of Brooklyn died Tuesday, March 19, at the Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Lynn Williams officiating. Organist was Nina Bartachek. Pallbearers were David Montgomery, Bill Montgomery Jr., Robert Marshall, Raymond Ziegenmeyer, Gene Breiting and Cecil Ringgenberg.

Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brooklyn, with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of Maxwell and Matilda Paul McCosh, she was born March 29, 1890, in Jasper County. She was a graduate of Grinnell High School and a Des Moines business college.

On July 18, 1917, she was married to Lloyd L. Wells in Oskaloosa. They moved to Brooklyn in 1933.

Mrs. Wells was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, the Pythian Sisters, the Rebekahs, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rural Letter Carriers Association.

She is survived by three sons, Lloyd Jr. of Hot Springs, Ark., Richard of Hedrick and Daryl of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Maxine Smith of Louisville, Ky., and Jane Montgomery of Des Moines; three sisters, Edith Koger, Esther Ziegenmeyer and Lois Carter, all of Grinnell; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded inn death by her parents, her husband, five sisters and two grandchildren.
