JENNIE KOGER SERVICES HELD

Jennie Mabel Koger, 93, of Grinnell, died Wednesday evening at St. Francis Manor.

The daughter of Maxwell and Matilda Paul McCosh, she was born on Dec. 28, 1884 in Hickory Grove Township, Jasper County. She attended rural schools near her home and later moved to the Grinnell area with her family.

On Jan. 16, 1907 she married Calvin A. Koger. They farmed near Kellogg and later near Newburg until they moved to Grinnell in 1927.

She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church for 47 years.

Services for Mrs. Koger were Saturday at the Smith Eastside Funeral Home with the Elder Vernon Hopkins, pastor of the Mount Pleasant Primitve Baptist Church in Grant Township, officiating. Organist was Mrs. Julia Pearce and vocalist was Dale Clark.

Pallbearers were Dale Clark, Robert Evans, Don Gurney, Dale Koger, Keith Koger, and Charles Ziegenmeyer.

Survivors include two sons: Murray E. Koger of Deming, N.M., and Burton C. Koger of rural Grinnell; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and five sisters: Mrs. Lee (Edith) Koger and Mrs. Eugene (Margaret) Marshall, both of Newton; Mrs. Lloyd (Jessie) Wells of Brooklyn; Mrs. Otto (Esther) Ziegenmeyer and Mrs. Harry (Lois) Carter, both of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents, one great-granddaughter, and three sisters.

Burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Mount Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church.
