MRS. ANGELIKA MEYER

Mrs. Angelika Meyer was born December 23, 1855, in Breidenbach, Germany, and passed away at her home in Grinnell, Iowa, May 27, 1915, at 6:30 p.m.

Mrs. Meyer was baptized in infancy and was confirmed at the age of fourteen, in the German Lutheran church. She was the oldest daughter of Adam and Anna Elizabeth Seibel Schmidt, and was left an orphan at the age of eleven. At the age of twenty-one she came to America to join her brother Adam Schmidt, who then resided on a farm near Sheridan, Iowa, and who preceded her in death ten years ago.

September 30, 1880, she was united in marriage to John Meyer, whom death claimed in July 1910. She was the mother of twelve children, five of whom died in infancy.

She leaves to mourn her loss seven children, Henry Schmidt, Mrs. Fred Deedrick, Mrs. Will Ahrens, John Meyer, Henry Meyer, Mrs. Ellis Haynes, and Eda Meyer; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Frahm; thirteen grandchildren; a large number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Angelika Meyer had been ill more or less for the last three years. She became seriously ill four weeks ago before her death. All her life she was a consistent member of the Lutheran church, and it was through her untiring efforts that all her children were instructed and confirmed in the faith of her church. She will long be remembered by friends for her pleasant, cheery dispostion, and for the patience and unselfishness with which she bore her last illness.
