Linda Tarvin

Linda Tarvin, 66, of Montezuma, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at her home in Montezuma. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 14, at Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma, with the Rev. George Salnave officiating. Visitation will begin after noon today, with the family present from 5 to 7 tonight at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Jackson Township Cemetery in Montezuma.

Linda Rae Tarvin, daughter of Glen “Skinner” Brown and Lois (Campbell) Taylor was born June 22, 1943, in New Sharon, Iowa. She was a 1961 graduate of Montezuma High School. On Oct. 20, 1963, Linda was united in marriage to Leo Tarvin at First Christian Church in Montezuma. To this union two sons were born, Mike and Dan. Linda worked various jobs in Montezuma, including Dieomatic, Sutherland Printing, Brownells, Hometown Restaurant and The View. Linda’s favorite job was working at The View Coffee Shop, where she enjoyed holding conversations and writing poetry for her customers.

Linda had a great sense of humor and loved being around people. Linda absolutely loved Christmas. She would decorate her home and make it feel warm and welcoming for her family and friends. Linda enjoyed camping at the State Fair, funnel cakes and fishing at Diamond Lake. She was an avid Cubs fan and loved to watch “Big Cats” on Animal Planet. Linda was a people person who enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Her memory is cherished by her husband and best friend of 46 years, Leo of Montezuma; two sons, Mike (Carmela) Tarvin of Bondurant and Dan (Julie) Tarvin of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Jacy (Adam) Porter, Blake Tarvin, Connor Tarvin, Brooke Tarvin and Ethan Tarvin; her father, Glen Brown of Greenfield; and a sister, Billie Jo Ladely of Grinnell.

Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Taylor; her stepfather, Harold Taylor; and her brother, Ron Brown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Grinnell Regional Hospice or the Montezuma Family Center to go toward refurbishing the floors.
