WM. STANFORD OF MONTEZUMA DIES

William (Bill) F. Stanford, long time resident of the Montezuma community, suffered a stroke Monday night while in attendance at the Rebekah county convention, from the effects of which he never recovered. He died in his home at 11 o'clock that evening. His left side was completely paralyzed.

Mr. and Mrs. Stanford had been brought to the I.O.O.F. hall by their son, Lewis, and Mr. Stanford was in better health than usual. He remarked he had just eaten a hearty supper and was feeling fine. The news of his death caused a wave of sadness over the community as Mr. Stanford was very popular with both old and young. His long services in the school houses gave him a wide acquaintanceship and he was able to remember his many friends.

Those who attended the funeral from Grinnell were Mr. and Mrs. John Jantzen, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jantzen, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Speth, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Deedrick, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jantzen, Mrs. J.C. Martin, Mrs. G.W. McNeal and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Whittaker.
