RITES TUESDAY FOR CHARLES DEEDRICK, SHERIDAN RESIDENT

Charles L. Deedrick, 77, Rte. 3, Grinnell, died Friday afternoon at a local hospital where he had ben a patient for three days. He had been in ill health the past year.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Woogie, pastor of the Sheridan Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan township cemetery.

Music will be furnished by Mrs. Dolph Miller, accompanied by Mrs. Rhee Auman. Pallbearers will be Elmer Hagge, Leonard Jantzen, Conrad Kaisand, Charles Mayo, Art Pederson and Eldon Peterson.

He was the son of Joseph and Hannah Shoemaker Deedrick and was born on March 18th, 1883 in Sheridan township. He attended local rural schools near his home and then took up farming.

On Dec. 7th, 1904, he was united in marriage with Frances Hink and she preceded him in death in 1948. On Nov. 14th, 1951, he was married to Mary Jane Hall, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Charles, Jr., and one step-daughter, Elsie Mae Swain.

Other survivors include three brothers, Fred of Grinnell, John of Malcom, and Joe of Newton; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Gravelle of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Mabel Montgomery of Wyoming; and a half-sister, Mrs. W.R. Stanford of Montezuma.

Mr. Deedrick had lived his entire life in the Sheridan community. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Tama.
