LINDA SIMPSON RITES FRIDAY

Linda Simpson, 38, of Gilman died Monday afternoon, Oct. 7, when her car collided with a semi-trailer truck west of Newburg at the junction of two Jasper County roads.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Grinnell Christian Church, with the Rev. John Epperson officiating. Organist will be Marlene Toney, and music will be provided by the group Greater Love. Pallbearers will be Gary Mommer, Roger Mommer, Chester Simpson Jr., Jim Simpson, Larry Simpson and Richard Simpson. Honorary bearers will be 12 associates of Mrs. Simpson from General Telephone.

Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorials in Mrs. Simpson's name may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Kenneth and Maxine Esler Iske, she was born Oct. 6, 1947, in Grinnell. She attended Newburg Elementary School and later graduated from Grinnell High School in 1965.

She was married to Bobby Jo Simpson on Dec. 19, 1977, at Malcom. The couple lived in the Malcom area before moving to Gilman six years ago. Mrs. Simpson formerly worked at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Co. and for the last eight years worked as a key-punch operator at General Telephone's Fifth Ave. facility in Grinnell.

She is survived by hr husband, her mother, Maxine Iske of Newburg; three children, Sandy, Danny and Lori DeVilder; two stepchildren, Amy and Dirk Simpson of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Diane Iske of Emmetsburg and Deborah Iske of Glenwood.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth, in September of this year and two sisters, Marilyn Jean and Luanne Faye, both in infancy.
