KENNETH ISKE SERVICES HELD

Kenneth M. Iske, 62, of Newburg died Sunday, Sept. 15, at his home.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson of the Grinnell Christian Church officiating. Organist was Alice Renaud.

Pallbearers were Orville Anderson, Wayne Gropper, Leonard Hendrickson, John Krumm, Bill Mason and Frank Patterson. Honorary bearers were Dick Emmert, Loren Innis, Robert Louks, Kenneth Paul, Robert Stonewall, Ivan Walker and Allen Willard.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Paul-Ward Post No. 149, American Legion, Gilman.

Memorials in Mr. Iske's name may be left at the Smith Funeral Home.

The son of Dave and Leota Maude Hitchler Iske, he was born July 4, 1923, in Newton. He attended Laurel School. A veteran of the Army infantry, he received four battle stars during World War II.

On Nov. 22, 1945, he was married to Maxine Esler, in Newburg. The couple had lived on their present farm since 1956. Mr. Iske was a member of the Elks and Eagles lodges of Grinnell, the Gilman American Legion and the 40 and 8 of Marshalltown.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine; three daughters, Diane of Emmetsburg, Linda Simpson of Gilman and Deborah of Glenwood; five grandchildren; a brother, Jack of West Liberty; one sister, Theodora Shaver of Newton; three half-sisters, Edna Williams of Marshalltown, Irene Huffaker of Newton and Genevieve McIlrath of Grinnell; and four half-brothers, Ted of Oregon and Harold, Carroll and Charlie of California. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant daughters; and a half-brother, Francis.
