BARBARA A. NESSELROAD, 74

Mrs. Barbara A. Nesselroad, 74, of Brooklyn, died Wednesday, March 27, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nesselroad were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 30, at the First Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn. Rev. Hans Cornelder and Rev. Bradford Braley officiated. Honorary casket bearers were Shawn Sherwood, Steve Sherwood, Stan Sherwood and Cullin Braley. Casket-bearers were Steve Wright, Bruce Braley, Brian Braley, Brett Wright, Nick Wright and Eric Braley. Interment was in Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Nevenhoven Funeral Services, Brooklyn, was in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Ann Sherwood Nesselroad, daughter of Virgil Sherwood and Evelyn Torrance Sherwood, was born February 8, 1928, at Hartwick, Iowa. She received her education in a rural school near Hartwick and graduated from the Malcom High School in the class of 1945. Barbara attended Iowa State Teacher's College (UNI) for two years. Later she and her sister Marcia continued their education at UNI where they received their degrees. She was an elementary teacher, teaching at Dinsdale, Malcom and Brooklyn, retiring from BGM Schools in 1989. On August 20, 1950 Barbara was married to Lyle R. Nesselroad at Malcom. They moved to Brooklyn in 1950 where they have lived since. They were the parents of three children, Nancee, Neal and Nicole.

Mrs. Nesselroad was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brooklyn, GEMS and PEO.

Surviving are her husband, Lyle Nesselroad; one daughter and her husband, Nancee and Jon Cook of Jefferson; one son, Neal Nesselroad of West Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Marcia Braley of Brooklyn; two brothers, Scott Sherwood of Davenport, and Lowell Sherwood of Brooklyn; and five grandchildren.

Her parents and a daughter, Nicole Wykhuis, preceded her in death.
