PRESTON LAMBERT LONG A RESIDENT OF MONTEZUMA

Funeral services for Preston Lambert were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Apr. 8 at the Steffy Funeral Home by Rev. Frank Jacobs. Alice Underwood played the musical selections. Interment was in the family lot in Masonic-IOOF cemetery. Casket bearers were Walter Johnston, Louis Moore, Dale Johnston, Charles Moore, Walter Mitchell and Fred Cochran.

Preston Leroy Lambert, son of James H. and Emma Cady Lambert, was born on a farm near Deep River, May 5, 1883, and died at the Oskaloosa Nursing home, Apr. 4, at 79 years of age.

He attended the rural schools of Poweshiek county.

On Mar. 12, 1907, he was united in marriage with Jennie Hansel and to this union, two daughters were born. Mrs. Lambert died Apr. 30, 1913.

On Feb. 12, 1915, he was united in marriage with Mattie Hansel. The family lived on farms in the Malcom and Montezuma communities, until 1920, when they moved to Montezuma.

Following the death of his wife on May 5, 1945, he continued to live in Montezuma, until the last few years which have been spent with is daughter, Helen, and at the Oskaloosa Nursing home.

He was a member of the Montezuma Methodist church.

He is survived by two daughters, Helen (Mrs. Walter Kelly) and Jennie (Mrs. Fred Zorn); a grandson, Vern Beck; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
