MRS. HAZEL OSTROM

Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Ostrom, 67, widow of the late Fred (Jim) Ostrom, rural Chelsea, were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 27 at the Nevenhoven Funeral Home here. Mrs. Ostrom died Saturday morning, Dec. 24 at the Cedar Rapids Care Center where she had been a patient since Nov. 15.

Mr. Charles Evans, minister of the Madison Church of Christ, and Mr. Robert Seath of Moberly, Mo., officiated. The organist was Mrs. Ed Bartachek. Casket bearers were Max Ryan, August Van Renterghem, Fred Griffith, Wm. Roth, Leo Schott and Joseph Schott. Interment was at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.

Hazel Ordell Swain Ostrom, daughter of William D. and Elsie Morrison Swain, was born July 29, 1910, near Guernsey in Poweshiek County. She graduated from Belle Plaine high school in 1929.

She married Fred (Jim) Ostrom Oct. 26, 1929, in Hartwick. They later moved to the Madison community and moved to their present home near Hartwick in 1966.

Mrs. Ostrom for the past 11 years was employed by Beverly Manor Nursing Home, Belle Plaine.

Mrs. Ostrom was a member of the Madison Church of Christ, the Rebekah Lodge and a former member of the Past Noble Grand Circle. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died in 1972; a brother, Melvin; a sister, Lois Cooper; and one grandson. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. David (Marlene) Hammond, Cedar Rapids; and one sister, Mrs. Al (Beth) Justus, Bellwood, Ill.
